Get to know tutor, and brand new Employment Consultant, Kirsten Leith

We’re excited to have Kirsten move into an Employment Consultant role!
It’s been a whirlwind of new hires this year, and our latest addition to the team is every bit as exciting – but not exactly new.
Because Kirsten Leith is no stranger to ITC.
Kirsten has been a full-time tutor and Course Advisor for our Botany Campus, and now we are lucky to have her in the role as our Botany Employment Consultant. Her incredible expertise in the industry will prepare any graduate for an exciting career in our tourism or airline industry.
Not only that, but she also is our wonderful Business of Tourism Academy tutor for our South Auckland Academy. She will be delivering the 30 days over the year to our wonderful high school students from a variety of South Auckland schools.
We reached out to Kirsten to hear all about her story to date.

Welcome to the team, Kimi!
We always love welcoming new members to the team, and we couldn’t be more excited to give a big ITC welcome to our newest Course Advisor, Kimi-Ora Follas.
Kimi-Ora is an ITC graduate herself, and has spent many years working in travel and tourism around the world and here in New Zealand. Her experience both in the industry and as a student will be hugely valuable to the students she works with, and the team as a whole.
We had a quick chat with Kimi-Ora to learn more about her experience, and what she brings to the team!

Posted on 12/04/2023 by Hayley Clark
Menghour was hired by Air New Zealand after our Open Day late last year.
Late last year, ITC hosted an Air New Zealand open day on campus. This event was a fantastic opportunity where the Air New Zealand team gave a presentation to students and graduates, and did live interviews on the spot for candidates.
Following these interviews was a multi-step process, involving reference checks, swim tests, and training.
And now, we’re excited to see the first ITC graduate from that day, Menghour Pen, has finished his training and is becoming a flight attendant with Air New Zealand! However, there’s much more to Menghour’s story than just making it through the selection process.

Meet our newest tutor and daredevil, Jevasha!
ITC is over the moon to announce the arrival of Jevasha Govender – Jae – to our family. She is our newest travel and tourism tutor, and will be working at the Botany Campus.
Jae comes to us with a wealth of travel and tourism knowledge and experience. She has spent almost a decade working and travelling around the world, including time with Disney Cruises, Norwegian Cruises, and the Cunard line.
She has also managed a number of premium accommodations around New Zealand, and has her level 7 hotel management qualifications.
Of course, we had to ask her a little more about her experience, her knowledge, and her advice.

It’s never too late for a career change! Just ask Carol Weaver.
Whether you’re fresh out of high school, have been out of the workforce for a while, or are looking to make a career change, it’s never a bad time to study at ITC or with Study From Home.
Just ask Carol Weaver, the 64-year-old who had thought about becoming a flight attendant often throughout her life. She has been working as a science teacher and career advisor for Orewa College, which is how she came into contact with ITC in the first place.
Here’s Carol’s incredible story in her own words.
