Careers with Airlines

Many students dream of becoming a flight attendant. This is a wonderful career choice – imagine working at 30,000 feet every day! However there is more to working for an airline than being a flight attendant. Read on to find out what other jobs you could get.

What is it like to work for an airline?

Airlines truly are global companies. If you are employed by an airline you will likely interact with people from different cultures every day. Jobs at airlines suit people who enjoy helping others and have a great bedside manner. It could also help to speak another language. As for your day-to-day tasks, you will likely be working in a team and be required to do shift-work. Be prepared for early starts and late nights.

What qualification do I need?

Most airlines require you to undertake in-house training, but these programs are very competitive. To improve your chances of being accepted by an airline it helps to have a relevant qualification.

Both the New Zealand Certificate in Tourism with a strand in Aviation Level 3 & the New Zealand Certificate in Tourism with a strand in Tourism & Travel Level 3 are great introductions to the industry and can also lead on to further study at Level 4 and 5. Enquire now to find out more!
