Posted on 01/11/2023 by Hayley ClarkThe International Travel College is one of New Zealand’s most well-regarded providers of travel and tourism education at the tertiary level. We are committed to supporting and improving travel and tourism education across the country at all levels.
That’s why we created ITC in Schools, a pathway for high schools to offer our education resources at NCEA levels 2 and 3. This provides a fantastic option for schools to offer a more diverse education, and a way for students to learn about the exciting possibilities of a career in travel and tourism.
Now that 2024 is just on the horizon, the ITC Schools Team has announced plans for the coming year. Here’s everything we’re looking forward to in the New Year!

Posted on 09/08/2023 by Hayley ClarkITC’s Schools Team is excited to share their very first Achievement Standard, which has recently been approved by NZQA.
This Achievement Standard is focused on marketing, which is an integral part of travel and tourism and a large career possibility for students who might enter into Destination Marketing in the future. That said, students who complete this Achievement Standard will come away with a great foundation in marketing principles that can be applied to any industry.
ITC has been working hard to create this new resource, which will be available in high schools across New Zealand as a Short Course.

Posted on 12/07/2023 by Hayley ClarkNapier and the entire surrounding region has had such a challenging year that ITC wanted to step in and help out the best way we know how – with top-tier education.
So many high school students have had their learning disrupted due to the flooding and ongoing clean-up, so we decided to offer two short courses on Flight Attending.
Michelle Newsome took the first short course, and Laura Orsbourn took the second. Both team members are relatively new to the Schools Team, but absolutely knocked it out of the park and did an incredible job in Napier.

Posted on 08/02/2023 by Hayley ClarkITC is over the moon to welcome a brand new member of the team: Laura Orsbourn.
Laura will be a Tourism Education Tutor and provide marketing support for the Schools Team.
Not only is Laura an ITC graduate, having completed the Levels 3 and 4 Certificate in 2012 with distinction, she was also Student of the Year! After graduating, Laura worked at the Grand Mercure, where she was again honoured with the title of Employee of the Year. There, she worked in supervisor and training roles as well.
Laura returned to ITC in 2019 to complete the Level 5 Diploma before heading overseas to work for Disney. Since her return, she has been working at Tourism Holdings Ltd as a booking host and coordinator.
And now, finally, she returns to ITC once again – but this time as a team member! We’re so excited to have her, and of course had to take a moment to ask her more about her history and what she will bring to the ITC family.

Posted on 25/10/2022 by Hayley ClarkOne of the great things about ITC is that we don’t just offer tourism and travel credits for those who have finished high school. In fact, our Business of Tourism Academy offers Year 12 and 13 students in Auckland and Whangarei the chance to earn up to 30 level 3 credits throughout their school year.
And the best part is, we’ll be offering FIVE opportunities to join our Business of Tourism Academy in 2023.
