Posted on 15/05/2024 by

Thinking of working in the cruise industry? Read on…

An estimated 200,000 people are employed by the cruise industry around the world – and it’s easy to see why.

These roles can get you out exploring far-flung destinations, meeting new people, and enjoying spectacular views along the way everywhere you go. But whether you’re already studying travel and tourism, or working in an entirely different job, it can be hard to know how to make the leap to the cruise industry – or even if you want to.

Now, ITC can answer both questions with our all-new online certification: Cruise Online. This is one of four new online short courses, alongside Cabin Crew, Ground Crew, and Tour Guiding.

Additionally, the 2021 Sustainable Travel Report by found that 77% of Kiwi travellers think sustainable travel is vital.

At ITC, we also believe tourism can and should be more sustainable, which is why our short course team has recently created a new course dedicated to Eco Tourism. (more…)

Closed borders? No problem! ITC continues working with international students

ITC tutor Sarah Rouse with some of her group during the International Summer Holiday short course.

New Zealand’s border have been closed to all but residents and citizens for almost a year, but that hasn’t stopped ITC from building and maintaining relationships with international students.

In fact, ITC has recently provided a short course for international students here in New Zealand, and an opportunity for local students to watch a presentation from a high school in Japan.

Here’s a little more about each of those events. (more…)
