Fleur recently landed an incredible role in Queenstown.
If you spent some of your summer exploring New Zealand’s fantastic attractions, hiring rental cars, flying up and down the country, or staying in hotels, there’s a real chance you came across an ITC graduate at some stage.
Many of our wonderful graduates work in travel and tourism all over Aotearoa, including Fleur, who recently started an exciting role with AJ Hackett in Queenstown after studying at our Whangarei Campus. It was all thanks to her time at ITC, the work experience she did as part of her course, and her genuine hard work and passion for the industry.
We had a quick chat with Fleur to ask her for all the details about her time at ITC and her new job.

Telesia’s incredible story recently impressed Employment Consultant Sarndra.
At ITC, we have a dedicated Employment Consultant who works with current and past graduates to help them find roles in the industry. Thanks to her position, Sarndra often hears incredible stories from students.
But even when she hears these success stories often, there’s the occasional one that still makes her say, “WOW!”.
Recently, that was thanks to past student Telesia Saofai. Of course, we had to ask Employment Consultant Sarndra for more details – here’s what she had to say.

After completing work experience during their studies, several students were offered jobs – including one with AJ Hackett in Queenstown!
At ITC, one of the many ways we prepare students for a career in travel and tourism is with work experience.
Students can learn a lot in a classroom, especially with our tutors who are industry experts themselves. They can also learn a lot with during famils, where they get to experience travel and tourism first-hand.
But actually trying out a job and seeing what it’s really like is unique, which is why we work closely with students to organise work experience before they graduate and start applying for jobs.
And recently, we’ve found that their work experience is leading directly into employment!

Lesly Dihayco graduated from ITC over a decade ago, and is now working in her dream job.
Lesly Dihayco was an international student at ITC over a decade ago. She arrived in New Zealand not knowing anyone, and not really knowing what she wanted to do.
ITC helped with both problems immediately!
One of our friendly team members was at the airport to welcome her to Aotearoa and ITC, and our fantastic courses quickly gave her the insight she needed to choose and chase a career. She decided on working in travel agencies, and her career since then has been an impressive journey that has landed her in her dream job (as Head of Operations, no less).
As usual, it’s a tale best heard in her own words:

Ruby Cowie is one of several ITC graduates that Air New Zealand has hired recently.
As the New Zealand travel and tourism industry gears up for a very busy summer season ahead, we’re seeing our ITC graduates get snapped up by employers practically as they walk out the door from their graduation ceremony. Many before they graduate.
One of those employers is Air New Zealand, which is quickly hiring and training staff across their operations all over the country. We are fortunate to be recognised as a preferred provider for many airlines and tourism organisations. Our highly skilled graduates are sought after by the industry.
For us, these job offers are hugely exciting, as many of our graduates begin studying with us with the goal of working for this renowned and award-winning airline. To see students land their dream jobs immediately is everything we could hope for as an education provider.
One of these graduates is Ruby Cowie, a Study From Home graduate who has been dreaming of working with Air New Zealand since she was 10 years old. We reached out to Ruby to have a quick chat about the application process and her advice for other students.
