ITC welcomes 2015 scholarship winners to campus
Wednesday 11 February 2015
Six bright students have been awarded scholarships to study at the International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC) in 2015. Founded in 1996, ITC is an award-winning provider of training courses for the airline, aviation, travel and tourism industries.
For 2015 scholarship winners, studying at ITC is a dream come true. To apply, they were required to produce a blog or video to showcase their enthusiasm for travel and tourism. The winners demonstrated a clear passion for learning and their entries were inventive, unique and memorable.
ITC Account Manager Ceri Jenkins said calling the winners with the good news was the highlight of his year so far.
“All recipients were ecstatic when I spoke to them to confirm that they had won an award. In a few instances they were rendered completely silent for a short time. This has to be one of the most satisfying parts of my role,” Ceri said.
2015’s scholarship winners come to ITC from a range of different secondary schools around the greater Auckland region:
- Alex Murti, Kelston Boys
- Tobius Charnley, Takapuna Grammar School
- Louise Taylor, Pakuranga College
- Falestina Kaiaruna, James Cook High School
- Anita Kaiaruna, James Cook High School
- Natasha Stewart, Maharangi College
Alex Murti said he feels “proud and happy” to be one of this year’s winners. He hopes studying at ITC will help him achieve his lifelong dream.
“My dream job is to become a Flight Attendant. I am so excited that ITC will help me through my journey,” Alex said.
Natasha Stewart is equally excited to be studying at ITC this year.
“It feels amazing to have won this scholarship. I am excited to learn it all!” she said.
Ceri said 2015 was also a special year for scholarships, with twin sisters Anita and Falestina both submitting successful applications.
“For the first time we have had two sisters win and award. Both Falestina and Anita’s presentations used a combination of rap music and images of their travels. The lyrics to their music was outstanding and answered all of the requirements of the application in an informative and inventive manner,” Ceri said.
ITC allocates several scholarships each year. Information about 2016 scholarships will be released between May and July.
