We will be offering modules or even up to one course completely FREE of any student fees to anyone who can demonstrate their travel and tourism employment has recently been terminated due to the crisis.
The past few months have been a whirlwind for everybody in the world. We’ve witnessed firsthand the immediate impact of COVID-19 on our industry.
We can see the real problems this pandemic is causing to tourism in New Zealand, with many companies making some huge staff cuts and even closing their doors.
The current situation: Where we are now
It’s hard to not feel helpless and very sad about the situation, and to worry what the future holds.
We certainly can’t predict how the industry will look, when it will turn around, and what the future will bring.
This sense of ‘no control’ has certainly been challenging for everyone. But, what we can control is how we react to it and what we do!
Here at ITC, we want to help.
In a time of crisis, we feel it’s our duty to help our industry.

We’re happy to be once more providing short courses to secondary school students under Alert Level 2.
We are excited to announce that our short courses are back under Alert Level 2.
As with campus reopenings, ensuring the safety of staff and students is still the utmost priority, says ITC Marketing Manager Mel Jenkins.
“We are beyond thrilled to be back offering short courses and working with high school students. We’re following level 2 guidelines and public health recommendations to ensure a safe learning environment,” says Mel.
These short courses are an excellent opportunity to provide students from all areas of school something meaningful, something over and above what they are doing in class. Most importantly, they help to instill confidence and see a positive future.

Posted on 07/04/2020 by Jess O'Connor
ITC staff donned their best costumes last week to brighten the mood.
Our first week of studying online during lockdown got off to a very stylish start, with staff and students donning their ‘best outfits’ at home.
The theme for last week was ‘Best Dressed’ and it did not disappoint. From wedding gowns to dinosaur costumes, there was not a dull outfit in sight.
You can see all of the brilliant photos on Facebook: ITC Best Dressed Theme Week.

You can continue to study towards an airline, travel or tourism qualification with ITC during New Zealand’s Level 4 Lockdown.
Here at ITC we haven’t stopped teaching during New Zealand’s Covid-19 Lockdown – classes just look a little different!
We’re open for online learning via our online platform, which our sister company Study From Home has been successfully using for over 15 years.
Students are continuing to learn and study towards their qualification, from their homes. We’re also accepting new enrolments, so you can get started soon.
Our goal is for ITC’s online platform to be a place of learning and joy for our students, just like our campuses.
We’ve noticed there is a bit of confusion out there about what’s open and what’s not, so let us clarify exactly how we’re operating during Lockdown.

Flights may be grounded, but we know there are still many #tourismheros working to help travellers all around the world.
In challenging times, some wise words from a man called Fred Rogers help us to focus on the good in the world.
Fred Rogers once said:
“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping’.”
There are many, many helpers at the moment. Our doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals. Teachers, supermarket assistants, delivery drivers. Hospitality workers, baristas, customer service professionals. Friends and family caring for one another, neighbours checking in on each other, and even strangers sharing funny stories and memes on the internet to lighten our spirits.
We are thankful for every single helper in this pandemic.
Today, we want to make a special shoutout to all our #tourismheroes – all of the people working in the tourism industry to help travellers navigate this exceptionally challenging time.

Sueni Lambert is happier and more outgoing since joining the ITC family.
Welcome to ‘Be Inspired’. Every few months, we give you a ‘behind-the-scenes’ glimpse into the journey of an inspirational ITC student and share what it took for them to achieve their goals. Everyone climbs their own Everest, and these students hope to inspire others by sharing the truth of their journey to the summit.
When a student walks into the doors of ITC for the first time, they often feel shy and nervous.
Yes, they are excited – but they are also a bit unsure of what’s to come.
When a student walks out the doors of ITC with their qualification, they are often the opposite – confident and outgoing, all traces of shyness gone.
This was certainly the case for Sueni Lambert, an inspiring ITC student who gained immense confidence during her time at the College.
