Every year we send our students on a hunt for clues around Auckland City. In 2015 we stepped the competition up a notch. Here’s ten reasons why the 2015 ITC Amazing Race was Amazing.

Auckland Central MP Nikki Kaye speaks to YES students at the South Auckland Speed Mentoring Day. The ITC Marketing Team attended to provide the budding entrepreneurs with business advice
By ITC Marketing Director Claire Huxley
This is a real question that I’ve been asked many times. Why do I give up my time and energy to do something that has no real impact on my role, my business or even career?
In fact, someone once said to me: “What is the real pay off here Claire?” I held my tongue and now I wish I hadn’t. This is what I should have said. (more…)

Ronika is our new Academic Services Assistant. She joins ITC from a customer service and administration background. Below she tells us why she decided to pursue a career in travel and tourism.
I studied a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Auckland initially majoring in Accounting. However, in my second year I realised it just wasn’t for me. So I had a big think and ended up majoring in International Business and Management. It just was not worth committing money, time and effort into something I didn’t love. (more…)

ITC students look smart and ready for the workforce since the college introduced a corporate black and white dress code
By ITC Marketing Director Claire Huxley
This is a phrase an old Aunty, or maybe your parents say, when you dress up for a wedding, family dinner or a job interview. You probably cringe and go bright red! It’s just so embarrassing, why do people care what you look like?
Well, I am sure there are some clever scientists who will explain it better than I, but basically, people form impressions based on how you look. What you are wearing will help people form instant opinions on who you are, how trustworthy you are, your social status, and even how likely you are to be promoted. (more…)

Posted on 03/02/2015 by Jess O'ConnorITC Graduate Jordana Grace has been living and working at Disney World, Orlando for the past six months. As her adventure comes to an end, she reflects on the amazing experience.
If someone came up and told me a year ago when I started at ITC, that when you finish there you will have a job at Disney World, I probably would have laughed at them and been like yeah right. But that all changed when I found a job vacancy on the notice board that said they were looking for people to apply for the Disney college program so I decided that I would go for it. (more…)

Posted on 27/01/2015 by Jess O'ConnorEvery January, everyone shares their plans for what they are going to change and how they will succeed in the next year. Often, these best intentions fail, and we beat ourselves up about an inability to do what we said we were going to do so well earlier in the year.
I am fairly cynical about New Year’s resolutions for several reasons, however I think the most important thing is not the goal. I am all for change and trying to improve and modify behaviour and habits, it is just why does it have to be January when we make the decision to form a new habit or try and curb a bad habit? (more…)
