ITC to remain Fees Free in 2024!

Even with planned changes to the Fees Free Program, ITC is remaining Fees Free in 2024!
The Fees Free program offers a huge leg up for first time learners in New Zealand, but it is set to change as the government has decided to adapt the policy. Don’t panic, ITC still offers Fees Free to their learners!
Until now, the program has helped students to pay for the first year of their studies. With the new policy, Fees Free will cover the final year of a student’s qualifications, which often means the third year for university students undertaking a standard bachelor’s degree.
This has made some people nervous that potential students might be put off from starting a qualification, but the good news for ITC students is that it largely won’t change anything!

We’re open again this week – so you can kick start your career with us now!
There’s nothing quite like New Zealand over the silly season, when work and school close down for the break, the weather celebrates (in some areas, at least), and we all get some time to relax.
Now, we’re excited to kick off a New Year, and even more excited to welcome our students back into the classroom so they can kick start their careers in travel and tourism.
We’re open right now, and taking enrolments for new students!

Our new city campus class looking great and ready to study!
November classes have begun and are in full swing of their induction. We have some very excited students who are ready to take on a year of adventures with ITC, and we welcome them to our whanau.
We pride ourselves in our student experience. Our dedicated, well-trained team are so excited to see where we can take them all, so to get started, we asked the students why they chose us in the first place, and what their career goals are!

Tutor Mel with the wonderful Whangarei students.
Going on an overseas exchange is something that many ITC students aspire to. Our connections with international groups, knowledge of the industry, and assistance in helping students apply for and land these amazing positions, all mean that we often see our graduates successfully apply for these roles.
In fact, we currently have five students from our Whangarei campus set to head off overseas to gain incredible experience and knowledge. They are Portia Suckling, Stella Panui-Park, Kayleigh Johns, Jack Potter, and Trinity Rule.
We chatted to them to ask about their time at ITC and their hopes for their upcoming trips.

Our fabulous ITC Schools Team.
The International Travel College is one of New Zealand’s most well-regarded providers of travel and tourism education at the tertiary level. We are committed to supporting and improving travel and tourism education across the country at all levels.
That’s why we created ITC in Schools, a pathway for high schools to offer our education resources at NCEA levels 2 and 3. This provides a fantastic option for schools to offer a more diverse education, and a way for students to learn about the exciting possibilities of a career in travel and tourism.
Now that 2024 is just on the horizon, the ITC Schools Team has announced plans for the coming year. Here’s everything we’re looking forward to in the New Year!

Apii in her role at Helloworld.
Like many of our students, Apii Tavioni first learned about ITC through our high school short courses. That led to an interest in travel and tourism, and now she’s working in an incredible job with Go Holidays!
We recently asked her a few questions about her journey, and Employment Consultant Sarndra Stephens also offered her excitement for Apii. (more…)

Annie Shields is a Study From Home graduate working for Weta Workshop and AJ Hackett.
ITC and Study From Home are special education providers for many reasons. One of those reasons is because we care about our students so much that we stay in touch long after they graduate. We love hearing how their careers are going, and we’re always on hand to help them with their job hunts thanks to our Employment Consultants.
Sometimes, we hear from graduates who blow us away with their success. One such graduate is Annie Shields. Annie is working two part-time jobs right now, one for Weta Workshop as a tour guide, and one for AJ Hackett at the Bridge Bungy.
Of course, we had to get in touch and learn more about her amazing journey so far.

Students from Methodist College in Hong Kong recently joined us for a one-day International Exchange Program.
Earlier this month, ITC welcomed a group of students from Methodist College in Hong Kong for a one-day International Exchange Program.
Students were able to experience tertiary life for a day at our Auckland Campus. This program was developed specifically for international exchange students, and was designed to give them a good insight into what it might be like to study travel and tourism – and ultimately begin a rewarding lifelong career in the industry.
Here’s a little more about how the day panned out, and the feedback we received!
