20 presents for 20 years

ITC’s 20th Birthday celebrations continue! On Monday, the College awarded 20 presents to 20 lucky students – congratulations to all the winners.

The International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC) is continuing to celebrate two decades of teaching airline, travel and tourism courses.

Celebrations kicked off in late August, when staff and students received a spontaneous day off in honour of the College’s 20th birthday. Then, just a few weeks ago, all students were treated to a free piece of delicious cake.

But what makes a birthday celebration complete? Presents!

ITC raises over $600 for the SPCA

Students from ITC’s Botany Campus recently held a bake sale to raise money for the SPCA.

The International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC) is supporting the wonderful work of the SPCA. Students recently held a bake sale at the Botany Campus and raised a generous $636.70.

It was an amazing day for everyone involved, filled with great company and delicious treats – and all for a great cause.

Cake, cake, and more cake!

The International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC) is caked out. Earlier this month, we treated all staff and students to a piece of delicious cake to celebrate our 20th birthday – resulting in a mild but totally-worth-it ‘cake hangover’.

“It was cake overload!” says ITC Marketing Director Claire Huxley.

“We ordered a giant cake for the morning and afternoon classes at both campuses. It was wonderful to take some time out of the day to celebrate this special occasion.”

Highlights from ITC Graduation 2016

Thank you to the Langham Hotel for hosting the ITC 2016 Graduation Ceremony. It was a night to remember!

Did you miss out on attending Grad? Don’t worry – below are some highlights from this sensational evening. And if you did attend, relive all your favourite moments and share this post with friends and family. 

It was an evening of sparkly gowns, dazzling headpieces, and bowler hats. The 1920s-themed ITC 2016 Graduation was an occasion worthy of its location: the Grand Room at the Langham, one of Auckland’s finest five-star hotels.

As students, parents, friends and teachers arrived at the venue, the excitement began to mount. Immaculately dressed, everyone mingled over drinks and delicious canapes as they waited for the fun to start. And start it did. The evening was opened in style by MC Jonny Huxley, who did a superb job as host (and even managed to fit in a Geordie Shore reference).

The first guests to grace the stage were performers from the Edgewater College Kapa Haka Group. They performed a traditional Māori welcoming ritual. Everyone was thoroughly impressed by their amazing performance – the crowd cheered with delight after they played their final song.

Applications for the 2017 ITC Scholarships are now open! You can now apply to receive funding for your studies at ITC in 2017.

All you need to do is ‘Tell Us Your Story’. Send us a letter, blog post, video, comic strip – anything that gives us an insight into who you are, why you’re passionate about travel and tourism, and why you want to study at ITC. You can find all the application guidelines, as well as entries from previous winners, right here.

Highlights from Global Wednesday 2016

Global Wednesday 2016 was a day full of fun, food, and friendship.

Every year the International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC) celebrates cultural diversity with a fun student event called ‘Global Wednesday’.

Students are put into groups, and each group is assigned a different country from around the world. They are then tasked with teaching their fellow students about this culture through preparing traditional meals, wearing authentic costumes, and delivering presentations.

Date announced for 2016 Graduation Ceremony

Proud ITC graduates with their certificates from last year’s Graduation Ceremony.

It’s that time of the year again – graduation time! The date has been set for ITC Graduation 2016.

Date: Friday August 5
Time: 7.00pm to 10.00pm
Location: The Great Room, The Langham Hotel

The theme for this year is ‘1920s’ – a throwback to the Great Gatsby era (think flappers, feather boas and intricate head bands). However, the 1920’s theme has an even deeper meaning – this year, ITC is celebrating its 20th birthday.

“2016 is a big year for ITC. It marks 20 years since the College opened its doors and started educating students about aviation, travel and tourism. Graduation is always a special event, but this year will be extra special,” says Managing Director Kerry Priestley.

How to achieve your dreams – according to ITC graduate Charlotte Roberts-Swain

An inspiration to her peers, ITC graduate Charlotte Roberts-Swain loves travelling and working in tourism.

Charlotte Roberts-Swain knows a thing or two about turning dreams into reality. Since graduating from ITC in December 2014, she’s worked on superyachts and at Disney World – and this is just the beginning of her exciting tourism career.

She’s currently travelling in Indonesia, but she generously took some time to write to us about her experience so far. Below she shares some advice for people looking to follow in her footsteps.

ITC raises $176 for RSA with ANZAC Day bake sale

The International Travel College has a longstanding tradition of holding charitable events to raise money for great causes, and this year’s ANZAC Day was no exception.

Students at the City Campus rallied together to bake an array of delightful treats for a bake sale, with all profits donated to the Returned Services Association (RSA).

The delicious baking was simply too good to resist – everyone shopped up a storm and a total of $176.00 was raised at ITC’s City Campus. An amazing effort!
