ITC student Luca Bianconi named best performer in NZ for IATA exam

Luca Bianconi, an international student from Italy, holds the letter informing him of his outstanding IATA results.

Please extend a warm congratulations to Luca Bianconi, the best performer in New Zealand for a renowned IATA exam.

Luca scored top marks on the Foundation in Travel and Tourism with Amadeus, becoming the fourth ITC student to do so in just four years. He joins Danielle Barham, Anastasiya Kolchunova and Hayley Miles in the ITC “IATA Hall of Fame”.

An international student from Italy, Luca says he thoroughly enjoyed studying for the exam.

“I have always been interested in aviation and I found it quite stimulating,” he said.

Australia calling: Meet the ITC graduates working across the Tasman

Dozens of ITC graduates have moved to the likes of Sydney (pictured), Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth to pursue their travel and tourism careers.

A funny thing happens when you study travel and tourism. You get bitten by the travel bug (if you hadn’t been bitten already!).

That explains why so many ITC graduates leave beautiful New Zealand to pursue careers abroad. Our alumni is scattered all around the world, from the US to the UK, from Tahiti to Thailand.

But no country has snapped up more talented ITC tourism graduates than Australia. We recently caught up with some of the graduates who are pursuing their tourism careers across the Tasman. Here’s a glimpse into their Australian lives…

Love helping people? A career in travel & tourism could be your calling

In particular, airports are a great place to work if you love helping others.

If you love helping people, you probably desire a meaningful career. Perhaps you’ve considered becoming a counsellor, teacher, social worker or nurse? Or maybe you dream of one day working for a charity?

These are all fantastic career choices for compassionate individuals, but you might want to add another option to your list of altruistic careers: travel and tourism.

According to a recent survey by the International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC), many respondents said the best thing about working in travel and tourism is helping others.

“I love helping people and interacting with them – knowing that I could help or assist someone with something makes me happy,” said one ITC graduate, Nadine Semuelu.

If there’s two words you will hear over and over again at ITC it’s these: work experience, work experience, work experience.

Did we mention work experience?

Doing some work experience in the travel and tourism industry while you study is one of the best ways to increase your chances of landing a dream job after you graduate.

“Work while you study, no matter what job it is,” says ITC graduate Aish Rangarajan, who is currently working as Marketing Manager (NZ & Pacific Islands) for Tourism Malaysia.

“Every experience gets you that much closer to your dream job!” she adds.

Calling all travel lovers: you have a 1 in 20 chance of receiving a scholarship to study at ITC in 2017.

We are giving away 20 scholarships to celebrate our 20th birthday and to help 20 motivated individuals gain a qualification in airline, travel or tourism.

Scholarships range between $1,000 and $5,000 NZD and will be awarded to applicants who can demonstrate outstanding enthusiasm for the industry. Could that be you?

Introducing the first class of the next 20 years

ITC’s first class of the next 20 years recently started at the City Campus.

The International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC) is currently celebrating its 20th birthday. Students have been treated to cake, presents, and even a day off. But this special birthday is about so much more than celebrating past success – it’s also a chance to celebrate the future.

With this in mind, we’re proud to introduce you to our first class of the next 20 years: The 16NZCT3-09s.

20 presents for 20 years

ITC’s 20th Birthday celebrations continue! On Monday, the College awarded 20 presents to 20 lucky students – congratulations to all the winners.

The International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC) is continuing to celebrate two decades of teaching airline, travel and tourism courses.

Celebrations kicked off in late August, when staff and students received a spontaneous day off in honour of the College’s 20th birthday. Then, just a few weeks ago, all students were treated to a free piece of delicious cake.

But what makes a birthday celebration complete? Presents!

ITC raises over $600 for the SPCA

Students from ITC’s Botany Campus recently held a bake sale to raise money for the SPCA.

The International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC) is supporting the wonderful work of the SPCA. Students recently held a bake sale at the Botany Campus and raised a generous $636.70.

It was an amazing day for everyone involved, filled with great company and delicious treats – and all for a great cause.

Cake, cake, and more cake!

The International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC) is caked out. Earlier this month, we treated all staff and students to a piece of delicious cake to celebrate our 20th birthday – resulting in a mild but totally-worth-it ‘cake hangover’.

“It was cake overload!” says ITC Marketing Director Claire Huxley.

“We ordered a giant cake for the morning and afternoon classes at both campuses. It was wonderful to take some time out of the day to celebrate this special occasion.”
