Highlights from 2016
December is a time for reflection and celebration; an opportunity to look back at the year that has been and raise a glass to the many milestones achieved along the way.
2016 has certainly been a big year for ITC. We’ve welcomed hundreds of new students, raised money for several charities, turned 20, and so much more.
Here are five highlights from this busy and wonderful year.
Without a doubt, the ultimate highlight of 2016 was celebrating our 20th birthday. We celebrated two decades of being in business in true ITC style – with plenty of cake, presents, and a 20th birthday bash for staff and industry. We can’t wait to see what the next two decades will bring! Read more.
2. Hundreds of students graduate at a lovely ceremony at The Langham
ITC holds one formal graduation ceremony a year at The Langham hotel, and it’s always a night to remember. This year, staff and students dressed up to a 1920s theme and mingled the night away adorned in feather boas, sparkly headpieces and top hats. It was a wonderful night and we’re so proud of every graduate. Read more.
3. ITC students visit Auckland tourism hotspots for the 2016 Amazing Race
A highlight of every year is ITC’s annual student event, The Amazing Race, which sees the entire ITC student cohort hit the streets of Auckland to hunt down clues at local tourism attractions. This is a great way for students to learn about Auckland’s tourism scene (it’s also a great excuse to dress up!). Read more.
4. Mel Fey runs the Everest Marathon
ITC Tourism Education Team Leader, Mel Fey, ran the world’s highest marathon in May. She completed an extremely challenging 42.2km run from Everest Base Camp to Namche Bazaar. Mel is a huge inspiration to her students and the ITC team – we’re so proud of her incredible achievement. Read more.
5. Luca and Danielle score top marks in IATA exam
Two ITC students, Luca Bianconi and Danielle Barham, achieved outstanding results in the challenging IATA foundation exam. Both students scored the highest marks in New Zealand (they took the test separately), cementing ITC’s reputation as one of the best IATA training providers in the country.

ITC is closed for the festive season and will reopen on Monday January 8. If you’d like to get in touch, please send as a message and we’ll respond in the new year. Have a wonderful Christmas break.
