Meet one of our successful Disney Exchange applicants: Bea Terreblanche

Bea enjoying her time on an ITC trip at the Hamilton Gardens.
For the last few months, we’ve been interviewing graduates who went through the Disney Exchange Program as part of our ‘Adventures After Disney’ series.
Now, we’re excited to introduce a one of the successful applicants for the 2023 Disney Exchange Program: Bea Terreblanche.
Bea will soon be jet-setting off to the United States to work in a variety of roles for Disney. She will gain a huge amount of experience in different parts of travel and tourism, and no doubt meet many other incredible young people from around the world who are embarking in this experience with her.
Before she heads away, we caught up with Bea to ask her a few rapid-fire questions about her upcoming trip.

Posted on 26/07/2023 by Hayley Clark
Students from Methodist College in Hong Kong recently joined us for a one-day International Exchange Program.
Earlier this month, ITC welcomed a group of students from Methodist College in Hong Kong for a one-day International Exchange Program.
Students were able to experience tertiary life for a day at our Auckland Campus. This program was developed specifically for international exchange students, and was designed to give them a good insight into what it might be like to study travel and tourism – and ultimately begin a rewarding lifelong career in the industry.
Here’s a little more about how the day panned out, and the feedback we received!

Shelby Cooper is the Operations Director at International Working Holidays. Here’s her insider’s view on the industry!
One of the many special things about the ITC and Study From Home family is our connections across the travel and tourism industry.
With those connections, we’ve been able to reach out to industry insiders to provide behind-the-scenes looks into what it’s like working in bungy jumping and in HR at a leading hotel.
Today, we’re excited to share our insider’s guide into life as the Operations Director of International Working Holidays. That’s all thanks to Shelby Cooper, a talented and passionate woman who kindly answered all our questions!

Posted on 13/07/2023 by Hayley Clark
We catch up with graduate and Disney alumni Shania to hear her advice for students looking to follow in her footsteps.
Shania Wheatley is an ITC graduate who moved to Auckland to study with us in 2016 and never looked back.
She landed a job in 2017 and was accepted into the Disney Exchange Program, and like many young graduates in the last few years, the pandemic threw a spanner in the works – but her positive attitude and hard work saw her come out on top.
As we lead up to this year’s Disney Exchange Program, we thought now would be a great time to catch up again and ask about her time with Disney, and if she has any advice for new students.

Posted on 12/07/2023 by Hayley Clark
Our Napier Flight Attending short courses were a huge hit for students.
Napier and the entire surrounding region has had such a challenging year that ITC wanted to step in and help out the best way we know how – with top-tier education.
So many high school students have had their learning disrupted due to the flooding and ongoing clean-up, so we decided to offer two short courses on Flight Attending.
Michelle Newsome took the first short course, and Laura Orsbourn took the second. Both team members are relatively new to the Schools Team, but absolutely knocked it out of the park and did an incredible job in Napier.

ITC students shined at the recent Go With Tourism Expo.
Every year, the Go With Tourism Expo offers New Zealand tourism operators a chance to showcase their brand and services to young tourism students and graduates in this huge networking event. And every year, ITC encourages students to attend and make invaluable connections to local businesses.
This year, a number of our students volunteered at the expo, helping out on several stands and deeply impressing industry insiders.
Here’s a little more about what went down!

Posted on 28/06/2023 by Hayley Clark
We catch up with Tobius Charnley, a Disney alum who landed his dream role.
In 2015, Tobius Charnley won a scholarship to ITC, and later that same year, he was one of just three students to be selected for the Disney Exchange Program.
Tobius clearly had a bright future ahead of him, which is why it was no surprise (but a great cause for celebration!) when he landed his dream role with Air New Zealand.
As we lead up to our August Disney Exchange intake, we thought now would be a great time to touch base with Tobius, see how he’s doing, and find out more about his experiences with the program.
And he got back to us during his down time on a trip to Houston!
Here’s what he had to say, and his advice for students.

Posted on 20/06/2023 by Hayley Clark
The recent level 4 famil was a huge success, giving students a chance to learn about the industry outside of the classroom.
One of the many benefits of studying with ITC is that we know and value the importance of real-world experiences. ‘Famils’, or familiarisations, are the perfect way to get students out of the classroom and outside to explore the lessons they have been learning in real life.
Recently, our fabulous Short Course tutor Michelle Newsome took Auckland students from both campuses on an incredible three-day famil. Michelle is not only an expert on travel and tourism, but an experienced travel guide herself, making her the perfect person to share her knowledge.
