Why study the Level 4 Certificate in Travel with ITC!

Posted on 04/06/2025 by

Leilani Leith worked at Weta Unleashed as part of her Level 4 studies!

The ITC Level 4 Certificate in Travel is like a giant key that unlocks the world of tourism and travel for our graduates.

Many students will come to us and get started with a Level 3 qualification, then go on to study level 4 – which adds a whole extra layer of skills and knowledge to your repertoire (and your CV).

Here are just some of these reasons why you should seriously consider enrolling in Level 4 with us!

Work experience in tourism

A key part of the Level 4 qualification is the work placement. We will place all Level 4 students into a tourism position during the course to gain on-the-job training and experience.

This is a unique experience to put your knowledge and training to the test, and to discover just how many different types of jobs are out there. Plus, it’s quite common for students to make such an impression that they’re offered a job at the end of their studies as well!

Sarndra, an ITC Employment Consultant, put it well, saying:

“A huge advantage to studying our level 4 course is the opportunity to do work experience within our industry. If you impress you may come out with a job offer for when you complete your course, or an offer to be a referee on your CV, and always, more skills and more knowledge and a greater network of people. All a big win no matter how you look at it.”

Work at Disney!

One of the biggest drawcards of our Level 4 qualification is that it makes you eligible to be part of the Disney Cultural Exchange Program.

This job opportunity invites qualified graduates from all over the world to live and work at Disney in Orlando, Florida. It’s the adventure of a lifetime, as many of our graduates will attest to, and one that will give you a huge range of skills and experience while you’re at it.

We of course support any interested graduates in their application to Disney, and we are a preferred provider for this opportunity, which means many of our graduates are successful!

Meet Leilani: A current Level 4 student!

Leilani Leith recently finished her work experience at WETA Unleashed in Auckland, so we caught up with her to ask a few questions about how it all went:

What has been a few highlights so far on your Level 4 study journey?

Some highlights of my Level 4 study journey include gaining more confidence in myself and my skills, completing practical assessments, and going on work experience and famil. I’ve also really enjoyed learning about different roles in the travel and tourism industry and being surrounded by a supportive class environment.

How did Sarndra and ITC help you with your recent work experience?

Sarndra and ITC were both extremely helpful during my work experience. Sarndra made sure we were well-prepared and knew what to expect before heading out.

What was the best bits of being on work experience?

The best parts of my work experience were being able to learn new skills hands-on and getting the chance to work alongside professionals who have been in the industry for a while. It was really inspiring and gave me a better idea of what to expect in a real tourism job.

How do you think this work experience helped you with improving your career?

This work experience helped improve my career by allowing me to gain new skills and practical knowledge in customer service and teamwork. It gave me insight into what employers expect and made me feel more prepared and motivated for future roles in the industry.

What are you looking forward to in the journey ahead?

I’m looking forward to learning more advanced content in the travel and tourism industry, improving my communication and leadership skills, and continuing to gain experience that will help me reach my career goals.

What are your plans after you graduate with ITC?

After I graduate from Level 4, I plan to go to the United States for a year to take part in the Disney International Program. Once I return to New Zealand, I’d like to either pursue a career as a cabin crew member or work at Weta Workshop Unleashed. No matter where I end up, I’ll be happy as long as I’m working in the tourism industry because it’s something I’m passionate about and truly want to be part of.

Will Cannon from WETA Unleashed also added his feedback on Leilani’s time with the company:

“She is fantastic. Everyone who worked alongside her was extremely impressed with her attitude towards work, learning new skills and willingness to help out.  She seems to have an incredible customer focused work style that was extremely impressive to watch and most people even after extensive training don’t deliver a standard that high.

I’m certain that there is a bright future for Lani and whatever business she decides to join will be lucky to have her. When she is back from Disney I’d love her to get in touch so we can get her working at Unleashed.”
