Meet the ITC graduate making her own way in the travel world!
ITC graduate Mauga is loving her role as a LEAD agent for QANTAS at OACIS (Off-Airport Check-In Solutions) at Auckland International Airport.
Mauga is a recent ITC graduate who started her career working at Menzies. However, after a few hurdles, she has found her way into a fantastic new role working at Auckland International Airport.
Her positive attitude and strong work ethic are an inspiration for current and future ITC students, so what better way to share her story than with a quick interview?
Can you tell us about your job with Menzies and your main responsibilities?
My main role at Menzies was check in agent for Malaysia Airlines. I had the opportunity to do inbounds and outbounds, checking in the passengers that were travelling on Malaysia Airlines, and also doing arrivals when check-in closes.
After working with Menzies Aviation, I got the opportunity to work as a LEAD agent for QANTAS at OACIS (Off-Airport Check-In Solutions) at Auckland International Airport.
What did you learn at ITC that helped most in your role?
Studying at ITC helped me a lot, not just by learning but also the tutors that taught me in class. I had the help that I needed most, also whenever I feel down or when I get upset they were always there for me.
ITC was like my second family, everyone supporting each other and helping each other when needed. I will always remember what my favourite tutor Jackie said to me: “Wherever you go, always remember not to give up.”
I’ve faced a lot of problems and challenges working in my previous role, but remembering what my tutor told me helped me a lot.
What was the most important thing you learned at Menzies?
The most important thing that I learned at Menzies Aviation was that you won’t know anything unless you do it on your own.
Working with the right people is always something that will make work a lot easier for you because they will always be there for you whenever you need.
So grateful about where I am now, so happy. Also shout out to my OACIS family for trusting in me and giving me the opportunity to work for them as a LEAD agent for QANTAS!
