Meet one of our first Online Course students: Nan!
Our Ground Crew Online course offers an introduction to the many aviation roles available at airports.
ITC recently launched a series of Online Courses. These courses are short introductions to various aspect of travel and tourism, from Cabin Crew Online and Cruise Online to Tour Guiding Online.
These online courses are available for anyone, anywhere in New Zealand. There are no prerequisites and no age limit. They are simply a great way for people to dip their toes into a field of study and see how they might feel about it as a career.
Plus, they’re entirely self-directed, so you can study them online in your own time, at your own pace.
Now, we’re starting to see our first students complete these courses. One of those is Nan, who is currently working as a barista in Auckland and who is hoping to one day work in the aviation industry. She has recently completed the Ground Crew Online course.
Of course, we asked her a few questions about her experience!
How did you find out about us?
I was thinking about a change of careers so Googled courses and this one came up.
Why did you choose to complete our online course?
It’s best choice for me because I couldn’t make time commitments and I have got a day job to take care of.
What was the highlight of the course or the biggest take away from completing this?
Every module is worth learning and you’ll learn every aspect related to ground handling duties such as customer service, communication, baggage handling, safety procedures, about aircraft, airport regulations and mostly everything.
My biggest takeaway is you will be so proud of yourself by learning the things you never used to learn before and it’s exciting and interesting.
What are your career aspirations or goals?
My career aspiration is to land a job in an airport when I’m ready with great knowledge.
Would you recommend this course to others? If so, why?
I’m really recommend to the course to others because it’s really interesting and tons of things to learn especially if you would like to dive into the airport career.
The Ground Crew Online Course
The Ground Crew Online Course is a fantastic introduction into the world of ground crew operations at airports.
With 22 modules, this course includes topics such as ticketing, passenger service, and airport security. It covers the variety of roles you could work at an airport, and offers in-depth tips and advice for preparing for these kinds of jobs.
And as with any ITC student, online course students will have access to our guidance services for crafting a CV, applying for jobs, and attending interviews.
