Meet Brooke Therond – The ITC Graduate working for Qantas!
Brooke Therond is working for Qantas after studying with ITC!
Brooke Therond knew that year 13 at high school wasn’t for her, but that didn’t mean she was giving up on study and learning. Instead, she enrolled with ITC, earned level 3 and level 4 qualifications, and is now working in “the best industry in the world”!
We chatted to Brooke to learn more about her incredible journey.
How did your adventure begin with us at ITC?
I started at ITC in 2023 after leaving school, I left school after year 12 because I felt like school wasn’t for me and wanted to do something different. I was really passionate about travelling so chose to join ITC. I studied level 3 and level 4 at ITC and am so grateful for the experience.
What do you think ITC does different from other education providers?
I love that ITC is smaller classes as you are able to build relationships with the other students as well as the tutors. When it’s big classes I feel like you don’t get to make as many close relationships but everyone in our class got really close and I’m still super close with some of the people that were in our class which I’m so grateful to ITC for.
What is your fondest memory of ITC?
One of my favourite parts of ITC was a class trip. It was so much fun to go around exploring with such an amazing group of people. We had so much fun. We were lucky to have a really good class and we were able to build close relationships with each other as well as all the tutors at ITC. It felt like a family.
Please tell us about your career journey so far since you’ve graduated
I worked at the airport as a check in agent for Fiji Airways for a year and then moved onto Cabin crew for Qantas. I loved my role on the ground and thoroughly enjoyed it but wanted to get up in the air. I think it was a great learning opportunity to work on the ground before going to fly though.
Tell us about your new role?
I am now cabin crew for Qantas and I’m loving it so much. It’s the best job in the world. It’s so exciting getting to travel to new places all the time and explore different cities.
How did ITC prepare or support you for all this?
Sarndra was really helpful with me since I graduated ITC. She was always willing to answer any questions I had, help me improve my CV and was always there to support me along the way.
What are you most excited about your journey from here?
I’m most excited about all the new opportunities I get to do through my new role and getting to travel the world on my staff travel!
What advice do you have for others wanting to study tourism?
It’s the best industry in the world, If you love travelling and want to get paid for it then 1000% recommend it.
