Meet Brigitte, the student who is using Study From Home to make a career change!
It’s not uncommon to spend many years working in one industry only to question if it’s really what you want to do for the rest of your life.
For Study From Home student Brigitte, that’s exactly what happened. She was working in IT and decided it was time to make a change, which eventually led her to us.
We couldn’t be happier that she has trusted us with her continued education, or more excited to see where it takes her! Here’s what Brigitte’s tutor Toni had to say about her journey:

We chatted with Brigitte briefly to learn more about her story so far.
How did your adventure begin with us at ITC?
Having worked for many years as project manager in IT, I felt it was time for a change. Through a friend, I got the idea to become a tour guide for German-speaking tours in New Zealand. As I love travelling myself, I wanted to learn more about tourism and found ITC where I could do my courses online. Perfect!
What ITC Online course did you do? How did you find it?
- Tour Guiding
- Winning with Customers
- SFH NZ Certificate in Travel – Level 4 (currently studying)
All excellent courses – I learn a lot, the content is very useful not just for tour guiding.
What made you decide to go into fulltime study after completing your ITC Online Course?
I thought I would have the time to study full time, but that was a bit ambitious with all the other things going on in my life. I do what I can and appreciate it that I can choose the pace.
What do you want to use your new qualification for?
Tour guiding and better understanding the industry. Maybe I can work as a travel agent as well.
How do you think ITC will prepare you for what you want to do in future?
I will have a very good understanding of the industry and have choices regarding my future job.
What are you excited most about your journey from here?
Meeting people and bringing a bit of joy into peoples’ lives by providing excellent service. Finding out what exactly they want and need, and then giving them the right options.
What advice do you have for others wanting to study tourism?
My advice is to get a proper qualification where you learn the ropes from the beginning, not just learn on the job. The ITC travel courses are perfect for that.
