Tony Moses is ‘over the moon’ about the education he received from ITC. Tony studied the Level 3 Certificate in Tourism with a Strand in Aviation and recently started a new job with Menzies Aviation.

A graduate from the International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC) has landed a great job with Menzies Aviation at Auckland Airport – and he believes this is largely thanks to the support and encouragement of his tutors.

“I’m over the moon with how much time and support the tutors gave me and my classmates,” says Tony Moses, who recently completed the Level 3 New Zealand Certificate in Tourism with a Strand in Aviation at ITC’s South Auckland Campus.

“They give so much of their own time and advice, and help students with whatever career direction they want to go in. I’m honoured to be known as an ITC graduate,” he added.

Tony’s new role, as Passenger Service Agent, involves responsibilities such as checking in passengers and helping them from the plane through to arrivals. He says a highlight of the job so far is meeting travellers from all around the world.

“This is a job that I love doing – I love helping people,” says Tony.

Tony added that he also appreciates that the job has plenty of variety.

“Each day is a new day – no day in the same.”

Head Tutor at the ITC South Auckland Campus, Cathy Alder, gave Tony a helping hand with his application – something the ITC tutors do for many students. Studying at ITC offers more than just a qualification; the tutors actively help students with their CVs, cover letters and interview preparation.

Tony’s advice for future students is to make the most of every opportunity ITC offers, as this will give you a huge advantage in the future.

“Everything you get out of ITC will help you. It has definitely helped me get a head start in the industry,” says Tony.

“My advice to future students is to take your studies very seriously as it can help you have a head start above other applicants who are applying for these types of jobs.”

Tony added that maintaining good attendance rates and having a positive, proactive attitude are two other attributes that will take you far.

“You pretty much have to treat the course like a job. Employers will look at your attendance and your attitude. Give the course 100 per cent and you can easily get a great job,” he said.
