Airport open day proves how important it is to study travel and tourismPosted on 31/08/2022 by Hayley Clark
In late July, Auckland Airport opened its doors in a massive recruitment fair. There were over 3,000 jobs up for grabs, and more than 4,000 people attended the event.
This recruitment fair was at just at the right time, only a day before the border finally officially opened fully once again. Much like the rest of the tourism and travel companies around New Zealand, Auckland Airport was looking to bring on new staff to get ready for the rush of tourists expected this summer.
Here’s a little more about the recruitment day, and why it means it’s such a good time to study travel and tourism!
Recruitment day at Auckland Airport
The Auckland Airport job fair was set up to showcase the many roles on offer at Auckland Airport.
There was a range of roles and careers available from more than 30 different organisations, which spanned everything from entry-level jobs to skilled trades, specialist roles, and jobs that required degrees.
Auckland Airport Chief Executive Carrie Hurihanganui said that the airport is a fabulous place to work, and no two days are ever the same.
“With the reopening of the border, international travel is on its way back and everyone who keeps the aviation system running smoothly is looking for fantastic people to join their teams, including Auckland Airport,” she added.
