What do you need to study at ITC?
One of the most common questions we get asked from potential students is what they need to be eligible to enrol.
The good news is that it’s pretty straight forward!
Here’s a little more information about ITC, and what you need to be eligible to study at each level.
Qualifications with ITC
ITC offers five industry-recognised, outstanding qualifications for the airline, travel and tourism industries.
These courses range from just 20 weeks to two years in length, so you can get qualified quickly and get started in the workforce sooner rather than later.
Each course is designed to be fast-paced, fun, and practical with real-world skills and knowledge that you could use in any number of travel and tourism jobs. Ultimately, it’s our goal to equip our students with the skills they need to find the job of their dreams.
What you need to enrol in level 3 qualifications
There is only really one box you must tick to enrol in one of our level 3 courses: You need to have achieved NCEA level 2.
However, if you haven’t achieved NCEA level 2, so long as you can demonstrate suitable literacy and numeracy skills, we will likely still welcome you to ITC. Even having some previous work experience might be enough, so don’t hesitate to get in touch with our friendly team to learn more.
One of the major perks of studying level 3 with us is that you need to study for a full year in order to be eligible to go to Disney for work experience. As many of our students enrol with us specifically for this opportunity, our 20-week level 3 course is the first stepping stone in that journey.
What you need to enrol in level 4 qualifications
The New Zealand Certificate in Travel Level 4 is the next step following one of our level 3 courses.
To enrol, you must have achieved NZQA level 3 in tourism or NCEA and work experience (preferably in travel & tourism), either with us or elsewhere.
However, if you can demonstrate suitable literacy and numeracy skills, or have relevant work experience, we may well be able to enrol you in level 4. Simply get in touch and we’ll chat about your relevant knowledge or experience.
Keep in mind, the industry typically requires applications to have at least a level 3 and level 4 qualification. The majority of our students who have obtained positions in the industry have a minimum of level 4. Learn more here.
What you need to enrol in level 5
The New Zealand Diploma in Tourism and Travel level 5 is an advanced qualification designed to launch graduates into management-level roles. It is both fast-paced and challenging, requiring real dedication to the course.
To enrol, you must have completed a level 4 NZQA qualification. Or, if you have relevant work experience and can demonstrate excellent literacy and numeracy skills, we’d love to hear from you.
Our level 5 qualification can be a great option for anyone who has completed level 4 elsewhere, but who has not found their previous education provider to be suitably supportive of their studies.
If you’d like to enrol in any of our courses, you can do so online now. Or if you have any questions or want to discuss your eligibility, our friendly team is waiting for you to get in touch here.
