Three reasons to consider a career with a rental company
Have you ever considered working for a car & campervan rental company? This career choice may be less talked about than jobs like flight attending and tour guiding, but it’s no less rewarding. Here are three reasons why you should definitely think about working in this exciting part of the tourism industry.
1. You’ll meet great people
According to James Ure, the Auckland Regional Branch Manager at JUCY, one of the highlights of his job is meeting people from all around the world.
“The best high for me is the people I have met along the way,” says James, who has been with JUCY for seven years.
When you work in the rental industry, you will be interacting with people from different cultures every day, so if you are sociable, friendly and passionate about travel, then you’ll be a great fit.
2. You’ll help visitors explore New Zealand
Another highlight for James is helping international visitors discover the beauty of New Zealand. A typical day in the job involves giving these visitors plenty of advice about how they can make the most of their time in our beautiful country.
“You will be dealing with people, their vehicles and their holiday as a whole. A typical day includes handling email enquiries, booking trips for people and given them your tips and pointers of where to go and what to see,” says James.
Working for a rental company, you are often one of the first people international visitors speak to after they leave the airport, so you can make a great impression and show them what being a kiwi is all about!
3. You’ll gain great admin & customer service skills
Last but definitely not least, a job with a rental company can open many doors. You’ll gain great customer service experience, administrative skills and superb knowledge of destinations in New Zealand.
If you are looking for your first job after graduating, this is a great place to start – not to mention you will be working with friendly, like-minded people who are all passionate about travel and tourism.
