Removing Financial Barriers to Study: ITC Now an Approved MSD Registered Supplier

Posted on 19/03/2026 by

ITC is now an approved MSD Registered Supplier!

For many capable and motivated people, the biggest barrier to training isn’t ability — it’s affordability.

Not everyone can access a student loan. Some are returning to study after time away from work. Others are managing long-term health conditions or disabilities. Many simply need a pathway that is financially realistic and fully supported.

That’s why we’re proud to share that ITC is now an approved registered supplier with the Ministry of Social Development (MSD).

This approval allows eligible students to apply for MSD funding to support their training with us — helping remove financial barriers and create real pathways into employment.

What is MSD Funding?

MSD funding in New Zealand provides financial assistance for employment, training, and community participation — particularly for people aged 16–64 who have disabilities or health conditions lasting longer than six months.

Key aspects include:

Employment Support

Funding to assist with costs associated with getting or keeping a job.

Targeted Funds

Including initiatives such as the Community Capability and Resilience Fund.

Applications are generally managed through Work and Income or approved contracted providers — such as ITC.

How ITC Supports the Process

We understand that funding applications can feel overwhelming. That’s why we support applicants every step of the way.

Our process is simple:

  1. Quick Enrolment
Students complete our short enrolment form:
    https://www.itc.co.nz/enrol/
  2. Information Session
They’re welcomed into an information session with our friendly team to explore study options — either on campus or studying from home.
  3. Acceptance & MSD Application
If eligible and accepted into their programme, the student applies to MSD using our MSD Supplier Number.

Please note: MSD may not always cover 100% of fees, so students may need to contribute a portion themselves.

  1. Approval Process
The application goes through MSD’s approval process — and throughout this time, we guide and support the student to ensure everything is completed correctly.

We’ve already successfully supported applicants through this funding pathway and are excited about the opportunities this opens up.

Why This Matters

For employment consultants, careers advisors, transition coordinators, disability support services, and community organisations — this creates another practical pathway for clients who:

  • Cannot access a student loan
  • Need additional support to enter training
  • Are ready to build confidence, skills, and employability
  • Want a supportive learning environment

Removing financial stress allows students to focus on what truly matters — building skills, confidence, and career direction.

Let’s Open Doors Together

If you work with individuals who could benefit from this funding pathway, we would love to connect.

Or encourage your clients to start their enrolment today and stop delaying the next step in improving their career.

At ITC, we believe financial circumstances shouldn’t determine someone’s future. With the right support and the right funding, opportunities become possible.
