We’re incredibly excited to have Moana join the team, and we know her warmth, expertise, and industry insight will be a wonderful asset to our students, partners, and marketing projects.
We asked her a few quick questions to learn more!
How did you begin your passion for the tourism industry?
For my 21st birthday my parents offered me a party or a plane ticket – I took the plane ticket and spent time at Disneyland, in London and travelling on overland safari in East Africa. Travelling solo was challenging but exhilarating and such an amazing experience.
What does your travel industry history look like?
Massey University with a Bachelor of Aviation. Started at Flight Centre as a travel consultant, Top Novice NZ, Team Leader, opened a store at Botany Town Centre, moved to Hamilton as Team Leader, mentored new managers, broker for Flight Centre, broker for World Travellers, Industry and Trade Manager for Tahiti Tourisme.
What was your favourite job you’ve done (aside from your new role at ITC!)?
Tahiti Tourisme – representing my favourite destination.

How will your experience help support students?
I’ve been lucky to experience different roles within the industry and weathered some trying times that travel and tourism have faced (911 and Covid). It’s important to make the most of opportunities when they appear but also be prepared so you can create those “lucky breaks”.
What are you looking forward to the most in your new role?
Change and meeting new colleagues and students.
What do you think are the most important skills to have in the tourism industry?
Communication, preparedness and adaptability – no two days are the same!
What is your best advice for those getting into the industry now?
Enjoy the space you’re in but dream big. Set goals and work towards them.
