Heather Ward found her confidence and a career through ITC.
Heather Ward is a graduate from ITC’s Whangareri Campus, and one who landed a role as an Air New Zealand customer service agent just over a year ago.
Heather worked closely with some of the ITC team as she applied for the job, and we were delighted to hear that she had been offered the role.
Here’s a little more about Heather’s journey!
What made you decide to study with ITC?
After finishing a foundation course with distinction, it gave me the confidence to look at further studies. Travel and Tourism with ITC was the course that interested the most, so I waited until the following year to apply.
How did you find out about the role available with Air New Zealand?
I found the position through the ITC jobs Facebook page.
How did your hiring process go with Air NZ?
I had plenty of support from Mike Matata and Ceri Jenkins.
Mike helped me as a character reference and looked over a contract for me, and Ceri helped me with my CV and finding my work experience, which lead to me obtaining another invaluable character reference.
It’s like pieces of pie forming to make a whole. This was all done in very trying times of Covid restrictions. My thanks and gratitude goes out to them all.
What would your dream job be one day?
As I am close to 60 years young, I am happy where I am. I enjoy my job and the team I work with, and I have a really good manager.
Do you have any advice for anyone thinking of studying with ITC?
For any people starting out this is an amazing course, with loads of opportunities. It gives you confidence to go forward and achieve your goals. Keep your mind open to change, as my position is not what I started out wanting, but it is the right one for me.
