How ITC supports learners who relocate

Posted on 15/01/2025 by

Thinking of relocating to study at ITC? Here’s how our team will help support you every step of the way!

Attending college away from home can be a great experience. It offers you your first taste of independence and freedom, all while studying something you are passionate about and building skills that will set you up for the future.

Here are just a few reasons why we think it’s a great idea, and how we work to ensure any students away from home feel welcome and supported!

The benefits of studying away from home

Here are some of the top reasons to study in another city:

  • Gaining independence
  • Broaden your horizons
  • Experiencing the ‘real world’
  • Learning new life lessons and skills
  • Experiencing a change of scenery and culture
  • The chance to reinvent yourself and grow as a person
  • Having your own space
  • Making new friendships and memories
  • Enhancing your resume and work network

How ITC supports you when you move to study with us

Moving away to study can be a big decision that involves a lot of consideration. At ITC we are here for you every step of the way, as our incredible team ensures this move is an exciting step and not a daunting one.

Here is what we do to help our wonderful students who want to move to improve their careers:

Firstly, we can talk you through enrolling and applying for a Student Loan and Student Allowances via StudyLink. We can also assist in checking your eligibility and entitlement for the new Fees Free criteria. Our team has worked through this process countless times, and can work with you one-on-one to get you set up and enrolled.

Next, we’ll help make sure you can find your way here on Auckland’s public transport system. We can talk you through how to get and top up a HOP card, and the ins and outs of the bus and train system that can get you all over the city.

For students who want to do some part-time work while studying, we also help to connect you with local job opportunities. We can work with you to build a CV and apply for jobs, so you can earn some extra cash and gain work experience while you study. And don’t forget, ITC courses are only four days per week, so you’ll have enough time to work weekends and still get some time off to rest.

Of course, you’ll need somewhere to live. We’ll point you in the right direction for where to look and how to make an application, whether you’re on the hunt for an apartment for yourself or a house with flatmates.

What makes our team so special

ITC is a small family, and there are lots of ways we support our students.

Part of what makes us so special is our communication. We’ll keep you informed about everything that’s going on and coming up, so you won’t ever be surprised about what’s happening at ITC. We have a closed campus social media group, and we stay in touch by text, phone and email. We’re always checking in to make sure our students feel supported and happy during their studies.

We know that moving away from home can feel overwhelming, so our student support team will be there for you throughout your student journey.

Not only do we have International students coming from all over the world, we have students from all over New Zealand. Some of our recent recruits have come from Whangarei, Wellington, Dargaville, Christchurch, New Plymouth, and Bluff!!

ITC’s three great campus options

If you want to study with a supportive College like ITC then you can choose to relocate and study with us in three destinations in New Zealand.

If this doesn’t sound like you and you don’t want to move, don’t panic! We also have Study From Home. All of our qualifications can be done from any place at any pace. Visit our website for more information here.
