The school year has begun – but are you in the right place?
High schools throughout New Zealand are well underway with the new school year. It’s an exciting time as countless students begin their final year or two of secondary education and start thinking about the future.
However, there are almost certainly students out there who can’t help but feel like they’re just not in the right place. Whether they’ve never taken to the school system or simply have no interest in the subjects, it can be an awful and uncomfortable feeling of wasting time in one place when you could be somewhere else.
Sound familiar?
If you’re in this position, it’s not too late to turn your year around and make a change to an education that truly excites you – where you will feel like you definitely are in the right place.
What could you learn instead at ITC
Leaving high school at the beginning of year 12 or year 13 is a big choice, so it’s important to have an alternative plan in place for your education.
At the International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC), we offer level 3, level 4, and level 5 courses that last anywhere from 20 weeks to two years. They provide qualifications in the travel, tourism, and aviation industries that are recognised here in New Zealand and around the world, and are always interactive, fun, and practical.
At ITC, we offer a four-day week schedule, which gives students three-day weekends so they can either work a part-time job, catch up on study, or simply enjoy a little relaxation.
Our tutors are renowned for their passion for the job, and every one of them has experience in the industry, so they are always speaking from lived experience. They work closely with students in small classrooms to ensure everyone gets the most out of their education.
Our campus locations are in Auckland City, South Auckland (Botany), and Whangarei, but if you are located elsewhere, you might consider distance learning through our Study From Home option.
We’re also a Fees Free provider, which means most students will study for free for their first year, and even though our courses focus on travel, tourism, and aviation, the skills and experiences are highly transferable to other industries, making our courses a great option even if you’re unsure about where you want to end up.
Working in the travel, tourism, and aviation industries
Travel, tourism, and aviation are massive industries, and offer countless career options in New Zealand and in all corners of the world.
Studying for a qualification in this area opens an endless number of doors for students, especially for those graduating from ITC thanks to our strong industry connections and dedicated employment consultants who help to find positions for our graduates.
From working as a travel guide in your favourite tourism attraction, to taking to the skies as a flight attendant, to running the show in hotel management, or helping others to explore the world as a travel agent, there are limitless possibilities for those with a qualification in travel and tourism.
How do I sign up?
Ready to make the jump from high school senior to ITC student?
Our 2021 classes have started, but it’s still not too late to sign up. You may even be able to join one of our free two-hour workshops to see if ITC is right for you.
ITC does not require NCEA level 2 to sign up, although having some level 2 is helpful for the transition into our level 3 studies. If that’s something you’re concerned about, be sure to mention it so we can talk you through your options.
All you need to do is get in touch and let us know you’re interested. We’ll answer any questions you may have, and get you started with the short and simple process for joining ITC.
We look forward to hearing from you!
