The New Zealand Diploma in Tourism and Travel Level 5 – ENROL NOW!

Posted on 03/05/2022 by

Get started in travel and tourism by enrolling in the Level 5 diploma now.

The New Zealand Diploma in Tourism and Travel is a one-year, level 5 course that sets students up with the basic skills and knowledge they need to kick start a management career in the industry.

During this fast-paced qualification, students will learn about marketing, strategic planning, research, human resource management, finance, information technology, and legislation. It’s a lot to cover, but it offers an excellent, industry-recognised qualification in a very short space of time.

And now is the time to enrol!

Benefits of the diploma for study

There are a number of benefits you can get by studying the level 5 diploma.

This diploma qualification can help you enrol in another bachelor programme, not limited to a tourism education programme.

ITC is caring and catering to meet individuals needs appropriately, thus students are more likely to become successful in academics, such as getting awards.

Benefits of the diploma for work

When it comes to work, the level 5 qualification will give you more options to get a job, including the one which requires the higher qualification.

And since the tourism industry lost many middle-management positions due to the pandemic, you may have a better chance of getting promoted to a management level, together with your qualification.

Students can develop various skill sets, and all are transferable to other areas of work. It means they will learn faster, communicate better, will be less likely to make mistakes, and will be more resilient in workplaces.

Through this diploma, students also learn more about the work and career options in tourism, and gain a better understanding about the tourism industry as a whole.

Benefits of the diploma for personal development

The diploma is challenging, and students will often make mistakes during the course – then learn from them. This encourages resilience and experience with fixing problems.

Through this course, students become more self-disciplined and will become better at self-management. They learn how to communicate better with their family, and gain more self-confidence as well.

Of course our amazing tutors make the journey fun and interesting, and students make life-long friends as they help each other during the course.

What tutor Takeyuki Morita has to say about the diploma

“In Level 5, we have several assessments for self-reflection, asking about what you want to achieve in the future, how you should make a plan, what makes you actually interested, in study and business-wise.”

Level 5 student Sinead McDonnell recently took a closer look at how accessible tourism and travel is in New Zealand, and interviewed a NZ paralympian for her project. You can read about it here!

“So, through the study in level 5, students will know more about what they will want to know – find out their inner-space and inner-goals.

Kathleen, an ex-student, is a good example. She had some challenges in level 4, then she became interested in tourism through level 5 study, and she found out that the accommodation business looked interesting! Then she started level 6 study in the SIT, and now she is taking a double-major; Bachelor of Hotel Management, and Bachelor of Commerce.

She said she is successful in both studies. She is working for two jobs at the same time in Invercargill, including the Pacific Island Advisory Trust in which she supports the education and welfare of the children with Pacific heritage.”
