Meet the graduate who landed a job she didn’t think she would getPosted on 04/01/2023 by Hayley Clark
Mar Chit is an ITC graduate who completed three qualifications in two years.
She was studying when COVID hit, and while she initially planned to quit, the support of her tutors and peers helped her to finish her qualifications. And now, all that perseverance has paid off, as she’s working in a role she never thought she would be able to do in the airline industry!
Read on to learn more about her incredible story.
How do you feel your ITC qualifications prepared you for your new job?
“I studied level 3, 4, and 5 in two years. Throughout my journey I got to learn more about tourism and what it looks like, especially for customer services. At the same time I got the opportunity to work in Sudima Hotel as a food and beverage attendant through ITC, so I could get more experience and be prepared for my future career.”
If you were to tell us the highlights of your time at ITC, what would they be?
“The most highlights for my journey was when COVID hit, I completely made my mind to quit but the support that I got from my tutors and classmates was unbelievable – especially when I had no trust in myself and they knew that I could achieve my goal and dreams no matter what. They supported me every step. ITC is one of the best institutions for everyone.”
What is your new job? How did ITC help get you there?
“I’m working as a Swissport airline customer service agent. Swissport is one of the ground handlers for airlines. ITC has given me great opportunities and confidence to able to work as the airline agent, and now I’m the boarding gate agent and I never thought I could do this position but ITC has trained me so well for public speech.”
What advice do you have for others looking to study with ITC?
“I would like to advise everyone who is looking to studying tourism, I would recommend ITC not just because ITC just supports self-confidence but also because at ITC we work as a family where you can speak up about how you’re feeling, and you can also discuss how would you want to build your confidence and experience.”
“Thanks to all my great tutors from ITC and my friends for this amazing opportunity I am loving my job and enjoying so far too.”
Your dream job might not be out of reach after all!
