Meet Tanika Rutson: The graduate on her way to Colorado!
Tanika Rutson is a recent ITC graduate who has recently been accepted for a position at Cloud Camp in Colorado.
The team at ITC is incredibly proud to see her land such a wonderful role in a stunning location, and to be heading overseas to earn valuable experience in the international tourism market.
We had a quick chat with Tanika to learn more about her time with ITC, her career goals, and what she’ll be doing in her new position.
What made you decide to study with ITC?
I decided to study with ITC because I liked the fact that the course provided a diverse and interesting range of tourism studies which benefited me greatly because I was unsure of what job within the tourism industry I wanted to pursue. They also had a campus within driving distance of my home, and the course hours allowed me to continue working – these were also huge selling points for me.
Congratulations on your new position at Cloud Camp! Can you tell us about when you’ll be heading over, and what you’ll be doing there?
I will be heading over to Colorado early May as my visa appointment is end of April. Whilst over there my position at Camp Cloud will be a Ranger, for this position I will be taking guests on hikes, informing them on some history of the area, and I will also be taking guests on mule ride as well as teaching them other activities such as archery.
How did ITC help you prepare for and get the job?
The people from ITC were such an amazing help when it came to getting this job as they got me in contact with the agency to apply for it, and they were there with me throughout the process.
By studying at ITC I was given the resources and ability to practice all stages of an interview process, and by studying this I was a lot calmer and not so nervous for the job interview as I knew what questions would likely be asked ahead of time. ITC also gave me the qualifications needed for this job.
Do you have an ultimate or dream goal for your career in travel or tourism?
One of my career goals in travel and tourism is to work on a cruise ship. But I think my ultimate goal is to own a cruise ship company. I also want to work in all different parts of the industry, this is to get a full understanding of how all roles and parts of the industry work together.
Do you have any advice for anyone considering studying with ITC?
Do it.. everything about ITC from the tutors to the atmosphere and the way the material was taught, it made me really enjoy myself and get the best out of my studies.
Are you interested in a career in tourism and travel like Tanika?
Tanika is heading overseas to pursue an amazing career in travel and tourism, and ITC and the Broadmoor international exchange program helped to make that happen.
If you can see yourself getting qualified with ITC then getting work experience overseas, we can help you to make those dreams come true! Get in touch to find out more about our courses and qualifications, and how they can be the first step into a career in tourism and travel.
