What’s it really like to work at the airport?

Wondering if working at the airport is everything you’ve dreamed of and more? Just ask our students. Eight ITC graduates have just landed jobs working as baggage load assistants at Auckland Airport. Here’s what some of them have to say about the experience so far.

“I love my job” – Shirin Singh

“If you love people, then the load assistant job is for you! It’s really exciting. You see and talk to people from diverse cultures. I really love my job. For six hours every day, I meet so many people,” says Shirin.

She adds that the NZ Certificate in Tourism with a Strand in Aviation helped prepare her for this role.

“I studied the load assistant role while I was doing my level 3 at ITC, so I had no confusion at all about what I needed to do. ITC is the best place to study if you’re interested in the tourism industry.”

“The people are so friendly” – Dorothy Fauafa

“Working for Avsec as a load assistant has given me the motivation to go further within aviation security. The people are so friendly and I’m learning every day, adapting new skills and experience from my co-workers. I hope to one day become an officer here at Avsec and further my career,” says Dorothy.

“The job is awesome” – Linda Vongprem

“I get to meet different people every day, the job is awesome. Without ITC’s help I wouldn’t have had a chance to work at the airport because I had no idea where to begin. Thank you everyone at ITC for the help. I enjoy working at the airport, it’s a fun and exciting environment,” says Linda.

Would you like to work at the airport too? Get in touch today to enrol in the next aviation course starting July 24 in the city centre or August 28 in Botany.
