ITC raises money for charity with midwinter Christmas celebrations

Midwinter Christmas cheer at ITC’s Auckland campuses.

Cure Kids, Heart Kids, and the Auckland City Mission have each received a donation from the International Travel College, thanks to money raised from midwinter Christmas celebrations.

Last week was ‘Midwinter Christmas Week’ at both the Botany and Auckland City campuses.

Each campus embraced the festive spirit, complete with decorations and a Christmas tree at both reception areas.

Staff and students were invited to donate money to their preferred charity, and to leave non-perishable goods under the Christmas tree for Auckland City Mission.

Each campus also held a bake sale and a mufti fundraiser (Christmas-themed, of course).

“It was a fantastic, heartwarming week,” says ITC Marketing Manager Mel Jenkins.

“Everyone was so generous. Staff and students raised nearly $500, and our generous CEO donated a further $250 to each charity, bringing the total raised to nearly $1,000.”

ITC has a long tradition of raising money for charity at Christmastime, as well as at other key times throughout the year, such as Anzac Day and Easter.

Adding mid-Christmas winter celebrations to the schedule is yet another way for the College to give back to the community.

“Our students really did so well as putting efforts into giving back and creating some mid-winter cheer,” says Mel.

“It was a great week and we hope to do it again next year. It marks the start of another wonderful ITC tradition.”
