ITC launches new tourism courses for current high school students!
High school students shouldn’t have to wait until they graduate to start studying the exciting world of travel, tourism, and aviation.
Yet if your high school doesn’t offer these courses, ITC can help. We’ve just launched three new courses available for high school students. These courses all offer credits at level 3, and can all be completed during normal school time at our Botany Campus.
Here’s a little more about each one!
ITC Airline & Aviation Experience – Term 2
This nine-week programme is running each Monday through term 2. Classes start at 9.30am and run until 2.30pm.
During this course, students will learn the basics of customer service and flight attending, airline roles, personal presentation, and more. They will visit an airport and meet experts in popular airline jobs, and they will learn about creating CVs and attending interviews.
By the end of the course, students will have earned 10 credits at level 3.
ITC Adventure & Tour Guiding Experience – Term 3
In term 3, we’re running a 10-week programme. Classes are on Mondays from 9.30am to 2.30pm.
In this course, students will learn all about working as an adventure or tour guide. This includes teams and leadership skills, communications, team building, and tour guiding. Students will get to take a WETA Workshop tour and do the All Blacks experience as part of this course, not to mention meeting expert guides, and finishing off the whole experience with a bridge climb and bungy jump.
Aside from all the fun and great experiences, students will gain 10 credits at level 3 for their work.
Business of Tourism Experience – Terms 1, 2 & 3
The Business of Tourism Experience is a 27-week course that will run each Tuesday from 9.30am to 2.30pm, starting from February 20 and finishing at the end of term 3.
This course is much more involved, covering foundational skills across different sectors of the industry, from aviation to accommodation, adventure tourism to activities and attractions. Students will learn about leadership, customer service, cultural awareness, presentation skills, and much more. They will enjoy field trips and meet experts, giving them an excellent basis to start their career in tourism and travel.
By the end of this course, students will have earned 30 credits at level 3.
If you’re interested in offering these courses to your high school students, don’t hesitate to contact us to learn more and get started at: schools@itc.co.nz.
