Taryn Brown, a former ITC student, recently graduated from the Disney World Cultural Exchange Program.

Exactly 8 months ago to the day, ITC graduate Taryn Brown received the good news that she was off to Disney World for the work experience trip of a lifetime.

Participating in the Disney Cultural Exchange Program has been a goal of Taryn’s since she started studying tourism at ITC. After much hard work and determination, in August she found herself on a plane to Orlando – her dream was coming true.

Now, many new friends and amazing memories later, Taryn has graduated from the program and received her ‘Disney Ears’.

Reflecting on the experience, she says overall it was an amazing challenge – there were good times, hard times and everything in between.

“Working over here has taught me a lot. Being so far from home was hard and I had days where I wanted to give up and just go home, but having the support of friends that told me I can do it and stay helped so much,” Taryn said.

“Thank you to everyone who believed in me from start to finish.”

While she’s looking forward to getting back to New Zealand and seeing her family, she’s also sad to say goodbye to some newfound friends.

“I have made lifelong friends here who I will never forget! It’s going to be hard to leave everyone in a month,” she said.

Upon returning home Taryn hopes to continue her travel and tourism career. She’s also planning to share her experience with current ITC students who are interested in applying for the Disney program.

To qualify for the program, there a few ground rules, so students are encouraged to talk to their campus managers or tutors about their eligibility. They can help with the application process and give you more information about life at Disney.
