ITC has finalist and winners in 16 awards in the past 18 years!

The International Travel College of New Zealand (ITC) has been selected as a finalist in this year’s Westpac Auckland Business Awards 2014 – South. The college is a finalist in two categories: Excellence in Customer Service Delivery and Excellence in Strategy and Planning.

ITC’s Marketing Director Claire Huxley says that both categories are crucial to ITC’s success.

“Customer service delivery is the backbone of any good business,” says Claire, “and never more so than when your business is education. We are always aware of the responsibility that we have to our students and to their futures.”

“Our staff members are genuinely committed to providing outstanding training in the travel and tourism industries; training that provides real-world, practical knowledge and experience so that our students can succeed in their chosen field.”

While the college has excellent job placement rates and consistently gets glowing feedback from industry employers, Claire says it is the college’s positive and highly supportive environment that really shows ITC’s customer service in action.

The Excellence in Strategy and Planning category is also an area of which the college is justly proud.

“The world of travel and tourism never stands still,” says Claire. “And ITC is always looking ahead to see how we can best serve our students, our stakeholders and the industry that we all have such a passion for.”

One of ITC’s latest initiatives, its new online training programme, is a good example, says Claire.

“Online training is such an exciting new area for us, but we wanted to do it absolutely right. A huge amount of research went into the development of these new courses – we needed to know that we were providing something truly useful for people looking to upskill or to explore travel and tourism as a career.”

The courses also provide an excellent way for businesses to provide professional development for their staff. “For that we did what we always do: we reached out to our industry contacts and asked them what they needed. Our strong relationship with industry contacts is what allows us to understand the needs of travel and tourism operators and grow to meet them.”

“We are really thrilled to be a finalist in these two categories,” says Claire, “and we are extremely grateful to Westpac, Auckland Chamber of Commerce and Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development for providing this opportunity for Auckland’s businesses.”
