Introducing Rob Glae
Rob Glae recently joined ITC as Tutorial Team Leader. In this blog post, he tells us a little bit about himself, his love for travel and tourism, and his previous career experience.
Kia ora, my name is Rob Glae and I’m the Tutorial Team Leader at ITC’s City Campus. My role is to deliver student learning and to plan and develop across the college curriculum, while providing support and guidance to the tutorial team.
Before joining ITC, I worked as a sales trainer for Air New Zealand. My job was to design and deliver business development courses for the airline which included sales and service, customer experience, customer care, emotional intelligence and conflict resolution. I also ran the ‘instructional technique’ CAA course for pilot/air crew and ground instructors.
My introduction to the travel and tourism industry was my first job as a check-in agent for British Airways at London Heathrow Airport’s busy international terminal, in the United Kingdom, the country where I was born. I stayed with British Airways for nearly ten years working in various departments within ground passenger services before leaving to set up my own business – a music and education company, producing education packages and running teacher workshops linking Te Whariki (the Ministry of Education’s early childhood curriculum) to music.
Travelling has always been a great passion of mine and I have been lucky enough to have travelled extensively around Europe and the world. In 1995 I came to visit New Zealand and loved the people and country so much that I had no hesitation in deciding to stay and make it my home. Having experienced many different countries, I think we are very lucky to be able to live in our little Paradise in the Pacific.
My other great passions are spending time with my lovely daughter, music and sport; I also play the guitar and coach squash in between a bit of karate! I love having the opportunity of helping people to develop and grow and take great satisfaction in seeing people fulfilling goals and achieving their dreams.
I’m a qualified NLP practitioner and hypnotherapist, and outside of work I am a volunteer life biographer for South Auckland hospice. I am happy to assist with anything you might need at anytime, please don’t hesitate to ask!
