Introducing Joelene Whare

Posted on 07/02/2018 by

Meet Joelene Whare, our enthusiastic new Student Services Adviser.

Sometimes our students love it so much at ITC that they never want to leave! This was the case with Joelene Whare, our brilliant new Student Services Advisor (and former student). Below, she shares a bit about herself and her career journey so far.

Kia Ora, my name is Joelene Whare and I’m the Student Services Advisor at the Botany Campus.

Initially, when I finished school I wanted to go to university to study Business and Commerce. However, I changed my mind after I saw an advertisement about ITC. I knew straight away that I wanted to study with them. At the end of the day, you want to wake up and be excited about your study choice.

I decided to commit my time and effort to studying travel and tourism with ITC. I started my journey in 2016, doing Level 3 and Level 4, and I loved every moment of the experience.

After I finished my studies, I decided to work in retail to gain more customer service skills. I embarked on my first job as a Retail Assistant, allowing me to step outside my comfort zone and practice what I was taught throughout my studies.

When I heard there was a position going at ITC as a Student Services Advisor, I knew I had to get in fast – so that’s what I did! And look where I’m sitting now!

I’m so excited to be continuing my journey with ITC and thrilled that I get to work in a place that helped me start my career in the travel and tourism industry.

I love being part of the ITC team, and making sure our students leave with the tools they need to get into such a fantastic industry. I love seeing a smile on their face and so proud of what they have accomplished.

One piece of advice I would give to our students and our future students is that “If you think you can’t, you CAN”.
