“I work at the happiest place on earth” says ITC graduate
Imagine being able to wake up every morning and say “I work at the happiest place on earth”.
That’s a reality for ITC graduate Benjamin Strickland. He is working at Disney World in America as a Quick Service Food and Beverage Attendant. He’s stationed in the Pinocchio Village Haus in the Magic Kingdom.
“I work for one of the most well-known companies in the world and the location I work at is the happiest place on earth,” says Benjamin.
“Making magic is one of my favourite things to do. I love going the extra mile for guests,” he adds.
Benjamin says he knew at a young age that he would grow up and work in travel and tourism.
“Something about going to the airport every time someone was coming home or going away got me excited every single time,” he explains.
“I’d always watch the planes take off and land and be amazed at how they offloaded passengers along with their luggage. I knew then that I wanted to work in this industry.”
Now, Benjamin is happily embarking on a dream career in tourism, starting with an international job at Disney World.
He’s exactly where he’s meant to be — although he does miss ITC from time to time.
“I miss the support tutors gave me. Tutors were always willing to help us succeed and excel in our studies and I miss it so much. I don’t think I have ever received so much support in my years of studying,” says Benjamin.
He advises new tourism students at ITC to make the most of their time at the College.
“Take as many notes as you can and always take advantage of every opportunity placed in front of you,” he says.
“And don’t forget: the world is your oyster!”
