How to make the next six months of 2019 count

Posted on 02/07/2019 by

July is the perfect time to revisit your goals from January and make a plan for the rest of the year.

We’re officially halfway through 2019.

With six months to go until another new year dawns, now is a good time to reflect on your goals for 2019 and make any necessary adjustments.

Here are some tips for making the next six months of 2019 count.

1. Revisit your resolutions

Did you set goals at the start of the year? Dig out your resolutions and see how you’re tracking. Are you close to achieving any of your goals? Do you want to add new goals to the list? Can you cross any out? Reassess your resolutions and create a new action plan for the next half of the year.

2. Celebrate your wins

Reflect on the past six months and write down everything you’ve achieved. This could be as small as going for a jog (that one time) to as big as getting a good grade on a recent test. The trick is to write down every possible ‘win’ to boost your confidence and remind you of all the things you achieve on a regular basis, big and small.

3. Identify your most important goal

At the start of a new year, it’s common to be super ambitious about what you can achieve in 12 months. Enthusiasm is awesome, but in July it’s helpful to get a bit more realistic! With only six months to go, try to identify your most important goal and focus on achieving that.

4. Share your goal with friends and family

If you really want to achieve an important goal, share it with a few trusted friends or family members. They will hold you accountable and cheer you on, even when it seems difficult. Sharing will also motivate you to stay true to your word.

5. Think outside the box

Do you feel ‘stuck’ in a job or course that you don’t enjoy? Or maybe you’re in your final year of school and you’re lacking motivation? Staying on the same path until 2020 might not be your only option.

For example, at ITC we have courses starting all the time – you could start your dream of studying airline, travel and tourism at the end of this month.

Don’t feel like you have to wait until 2020 to find out more about our courses. Get in touch today to arrange a college tour. We look forward to meeting you!
