Find out why ITC is so popular with Tahitian students!

Posted on 10/04/2024 by

ITC’s Daniel Maine is a true jet setter, and has recently visited Tahiti to speak to local students about studying in Aotearoa with us.

Daniel Maine began working with ITC back in 2016 as a short course tutor. In 2021, he was one of the first Kiwis to visit Rarotonga in the two-way travel bubble. And now, he’s taking a trip to Tahiti to chat with local students about the option of studying at ITC in New Zealand!

We had a quick catch up with Daniel about working with international students, why ITC is such a popular choice, and about his advice for any overseas students considering New Zealand for their studies.

What are you looking forward to most about working with our international students?

I’m looking forward to having international students back on campus. Their various cultural backgrounds will add more colour, flavour and style to ITC than it already has.

What do you think these students get from ITC that they don’t get anywhere else?

International students will benefit our Tourism & Travel Management Diploma Level 5 that’s recognised worldwide and more importantly back in their home country. Taught by none other than our own professional expert tutors, who are industry trained at mastery levels. They get to gain new bonds with classmates from Aotearoa and abroad, and in such a fun environment featuring our state of the art airport training centre.

Recently you attended an event in Tahiti, promoting ITC. Why do Tahitian students love studying in NZ?

Tahitians love New Zealand because, of our unique kiwi lifestyle, our friendly diverse cultures and the scenic nature environment that we’re so proud of. Our cultures are very similar but New Zealand has so much to offer. Everyone is so active and the city is modern with many festivities, concerts and activities to celebrate in this wonderful city of sails. Plus they get to practise their English skills.

What’s the most frequently asked question you get about studying at ITC (and the answer)?

*When can I start? How exciting, the next intake is…

*Do you offer work opportunities? Yes, we have strong relationships with the tourism industry, that increases your chances to land that dream job.

*What are the students in New Zealand like? Will I enjoy or find the studying difficult at ITC?

What is your advice for international students considering ITC?

Go for it! Auckland is a safe place to study and for most, it’s just one direct flight away from home. You’ll learn to be independent, try new cuisine, you’ll love culture, the weather is great, the beaches are close by and your local currency is higher, which means more value to stretch that New Zealand dollar further. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and they will become your kiwi family during your stay in Aotearoa. You’ll have a dedicated International Liaison Officer to support you as well as your home tutor to ensure you’re comfortable with your studies and well-being.

Nau mai, Haere mai ki ITC o Aotearoa, ki Tamaki Makaurau.
