Aviation students: Where are they now?Posted on 23/07/2019 by Jess O'Connor
One of ITC’s most popular qualifications is the New Zealand Certificate in Tourism with a strand in Aviation.
This 20-week, Level 3 course covers topics such as flight attending, aviation security, check-in procedures, international travel documentation, baggage processing, airport geography, and more.
For the first time ever, ITC’s Botany campus is offering a new morning course from 9 am to 1 pm.
To celebrate the launch of this new course, let’s take a look at where some of ITC’s aviation graduates are working now.

What’s it like to work in aviation?
That depends on the job you choose. There are so many different career paths in aviation.
“Everyone thinks of flight attending, but that’s just a sample of the type of work you will learn about with an aviation qualification,” says ITC Employment Consultant Nicky McCutcheon.
“Our graduates are also working in check-in, airport retail, airport security, and so much more.”
What is the qualification like?
ITC has a custom-built Airport Training Centre which looks and feels like an airport. You’ll do plenty of role plays in the mock airplane, check-in area, and security area, helping you feel confident in a work-like environment.
The qualification is taught by friendly, knowledgeable tutors with experience in the aviation industry.
Do I need aviation work experience to apply?
Not at all! As our aviation course is a Level 3 qualification, we don’t expect you to have prior aviation knowledge. We can also help you gain work experience during or after your qualification.
