A massive ‘welcome back!’ to international students at ITC
When New Zealand’s borders shut to the world, as well as saying goodbye to international tourism, we also said goodbye to our international students.
ITC has long welcomed international students to our classes, and we have greatly missed their presence, culture, and languages in our classes.
That’s why we’re so excited to say ‘welcome back!’ to international students this year. The Ministry of Education has granted a number of exemptions to allow students into New Zealand to study, but from July 31, any international students will be able to apply for a student visa and come over to earn their qualifications.
Why study travel and tourism with ITC?
The International Tourism College (ITC) is a fantastic place to study. Our small classes mean you will get to know your fellow students and your tutors, giving you lifelong connections and friendships that you don’t always find at large university campuses.
We are also an award-winning college, and a signatory to the Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners, which means that we support your learning, educational achievements, and wellbeing throughout your time with us.
We are registered and accredited with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), and a selected member of Quality Education.
Whether you’re looking to spend your time in New Zealand learning the skills and knowledge you need to become a flight attendant, travel agent, hotel manager, or something else, ITC offers the training and qualification you need to take that first step.
Not to mention, our courses aren’t just in the classroom – these qualifications include famils that will get you out exploring New Zealand, getting to actually see how the travel and tourism industry works, and enjoying the beautiful attractions Aotearoa has to offer along the way.

Recent international student successes
Even though borders have been closed, we have enjoyed watching as a number of our past international students have recently graduated and gone on to work in the industry in New Zealand, picking up exciting roles across the country.
For example, Nikaela Santos de Belen got a job with Ibis. We asked her how it’s been going and she said:
“Everything has been going great so far. I’m still at Ibis and honestly love working there. The working environment is great and I’m able to learn so much, as well as put into action what I’ve learnt at ITC.”
Not to mention, Nikaela’s employer had nothing but great things to say about this star student:
“Nikaela made a great first impression during her interview and did not disappoint. She has progressed well in her role and has become an important team member.”
He also touched base with Sally (Suyeon) Jung, who landed a role with Sudima hotel after graduating from ITC.
“I am still in the Sudima with the same role and I really love that I chose to work here because all of the staff, supervisors and managers are always supporting me… Also when I see them, I can feel their passion so it makes me passionate as well!”
Sally’s manager added these shining comments:
“Sally has been a great addition to the team, and she has continually grown in the F&B field. She definitely has the potential to go upper level, and we love having her as part of the team.”
