A world of opportunity for travel consultants

There are more than 800 travel agencies in New Zealand, with more than 7,000 staff! Agencies can be owner operated, a franchise, or part of a chain or group.

Throughout the world travel agencies need trained staff in order to meet the requirements of the Travel Agents Associations. This opens up a world of opportunities for Graduates from ITC.

Career options include:

  • Retail travel consulting
  • Corporate travel consulting
  • Group or incentive travel specialist
  • Cruise consultant
  • Destination or product marketing

Travel industry qualifications are very transferable overseas.

Graduates trained within New Zealand can be found working in Australia, USA, Canada, UK and other overseas locations.

Graduates often enter the industry as a domestic leisure travel consultant, and within 12 months can be working their way into international travel consulting.

The Certificate in Travel and Tourism provides you with a good entry level course for domestic travel consulting jobs, and leads into the Certificate in International Travel, Tourism & IT which is essential to work in roles which involve international travel. These courses meet both domestic and international standards and will provide you with a great foundation for your new career.
